Every year, Texas Exes Scholarships are given to hundreds of current and prospective freshmen at the University of Texas. The University of Texas at Austin’s primary scholarship administrators are The Texas Exes.
Over 670 University of Texas students will receive awards from the association totaling up to $4.1 million this year.
What is the Texas exes scholarship?
The University of Texas at Austin’s top scholarship provider is The Texas Exes, their scholarships are referred to as the Texas Exes Scholarship.
These awards have been of help to hundreds of incoming freshman and existing University of Texas students each year.
The non-profit alumni association of the University of Texas by Austin provides Texas Exes scholarships, which include full-ride awards like the Forty Acres Scholars Program.
Candidates must submit separate applications for these scholarships since they are not covered by the FAFSA or the Scholarship Section of the Coalition or ApplyTexas applications for the University of Texas, Austin.
There are three kinds of Texas Exes Scholarship available:
- The Forty Acres Scholars Program.
- Chapters & Networks.
- Named Scholarships.
The Forty Acres Scholars Program
The Forty Acres Scholars Program is woven into the fabric of what makes UT exceptional—its renowned and accomplished alumni network—as the only program of its kind run by an alumni association.
Their renowned alumni network, with more than 530,000 members, is spread across the world, sectors, and experiences.
Through tailored opportunities that range from informal discussions and game day activities to VIP access to red carpet university events, scholars establish relationships with alumni that can change the course of the game.
By the time they graduate, Scholars have developed their own networks of alumni and found motivating mentors.
The Forty Acres Scholars Program brings the best to Texas for the best of Texas, from world-class education and life-changing research to enrichment experiences and committed advisers.
And once they’re there, Scholars flourish in their tight-knit cohort community and a famous global alumni network (known as the Texas Exes to those closest to them). With Austin, Texas as their center of operations, Scholars get to experience the vibrant, artistic culture that can only be found in the nation’s top city for living.
Young visionary leaders are encouraged to apply their skills for the benefit of society through the Forty Acres Scholars Program, which also helps to develop and motivate them.
High school students who have demonstrated leadership qualities and have achieved academic and extracurricular excellence are eligible for this scholarship.

Application process or The forty Acres Scholars Program.
There are supplemental short answers for the forty Acres Scholars Program but before you may access the Forty Acres Scholars Program additional short answers, you must first submit the Texas Exes General Application and Entering Freshman Scholarship Application.
Applicants cannot start the application unless they have created an account by selecting “Sign Up.”
The University of Texas at Austin application must also be submitted through ApplyTexas or Coalition by November 1 in order to meet the preferred deadline and by December 1 in order to meet the final deadline.
Regardless of the date, they are received, all applications submitted before the final deadline of December 1 will be evaluated equally. Staff can start the screening process early if applications are submitted by the desired date of November 1.
It is also important you are aware that there is no extra advantage attached to submitting early.
Requirements for The forty Acres Scholars Program.
- The candidate must be a high school senior applying to the University of Texas.
- The candidate must be a citizen of the United States or residing in the United States permanently at the time of application.
- The candidate can be an In-state or out-of-state student.
- The candidate must be academically excellent.
- The candidate must possess strong communication skills.
- Deadline for The forty Acres Scholars Program.
The preferable application deadline for the academic year 2022–2023 is November 1 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
However, applications must be submitted by December 1, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Chapters & Networks Scholarships
Chapters & Network Scholarship was founded In order to maintain alumni connections with the University of Texas. Chapters are local organizations that interact with alumni through activities like fundraising activities for scholarships, student development programs, and community service.
Networks are global associations based on shared interests in the University’s student organization, professions, or ethnicity that interact with alumni through events and charity.
Over 530,000 alumni are served by Texas Exes chapters situated all over the world. They sponsor hundreds of the best and brightest local students with scholarships every year.
More than $531,950 in chapter scholarship funding was given to 306 UT students for the 2021–2022 academic year.
Texas Exes networks consist of Longhorns who share a common bond. These volunteer-led groups create a way for alumni to connect around shared interests, UT experiences, or affiliations. Each year, they provide scholarship support to deserving students who share those same bonds.
Requirement for Chapters & Networks Scholarships
- The candidates can be High school seniors looking to apply to the University of Texas.
- The candidate can be a student at the University of Texas currently.
- The candidate can be graduate students of the university.
- The candidate can be a prospective transfer student.

Texas Exes Scholarship Application
Below is a well-detailed step on how to apply for the Texas exes scholarship:
First off, applicants must SUBMIT their Coalition or ApplyTexas applications and acquire their UTEID before the priority deadline.
It is advised that you complete your Coalition or ApplyTexas application for UT Austin as soon as possible in order to proceed to the next phase and submit your Texas Exes scholarship application by the November 1 deadline. (note that, you should not rush to apply to Texas Exes scholarships through Coalition or ApplyTexas.)
Next, visit the website( then complete the General Application. You will automatically be considered for all Texas Exes scholarships if you submit the General Application, but you must submit a separate essay for the Forty Acres scholarship.
In connection with that, you should still complete the FAFSA as well as the scholarship portion of the Coalition or ApplyTexas forms, since they will screen you for merit-based scholarships provided by the institution and the state/federal government in addition to need-based financial aid.
Scholarships in Texas for Transfer Students
Scholarships with transfer assurance are given out in accordance with a student’s academic record.
All eligible residents and nonresidents (including international students) who are admitted to Texas State as first-time transfer students and who meet the scholarship requirements before the start of their first semester are guaranteed the scholarships.
It covers brand-new, first-time transfers from 4-year institutions as well as community colleges. For fall 2022, the first awards will be given. The fall and spring semesters will each get awards.
Those admitted transfers who meet the standards will get aid from the Financial Aid and Scholarships office. If you have a 3.0 cumulative Texas State GPA and 24 credit hours from the prior year, you can extend the scholarship for a second year.
Transfer Excellence Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1,000 each year ($500 per term)
Requirements for 2022 – 2023 Transfer Excellence Scholarship:
A potential applicant must enroll in at least 12 credits per semester at the University of Houston (central campus), and be accepted as a transfer student for the autumn term.
A potential applicant must have 48 or more transferrable hours from a regionally approved United States university and have at least a 3.0-grade point average GPA (on a 4.0-point scale).
As funds permit, awards are given to qualified candidates for fall admission. There isn’t a separate scholarship application needed.
Tuition waivers for non-resident students are available with Transfer Excellence Scholarships. If awardees successfully complete and pass 24 credits at the University of Houston (central campus) and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 by the end of their first spring term, transfer excellence scholarships are renewable for one additional year.
In order to be reevaluated for this award based on an increase in your earned transferred credit hours or your cumulative transferable grade point average (GPA), you must submit new transcripts after being accepted.

Transfer Achievers Scholarship
- Award Amount: $1,000
Requirements for 2022 – 2023 Transfer Excellence Scholarship:
- Applicants must be permitted to enroll in the University of Houston as transfer students for the spring semester.
- Applicants must enroll at the University of Houston for a minimum of 12 credits each semester (central campus)
- Applicants must possess more than 15 transferrable hours from a U.S. institution with regional accreditation.
Applicants must have a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) (out of a possible 4.0), and demonstrate financial need as determined by a FAFSA (or TASFA, as appropriate)
Comet Transfer Scholarship
For comet transfer scholarship applicants must have at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0, but the amount awarded varies with the measure of grade point average.
For a 3.75-4.0 GPA:
- Full Time Award (Per Semester) : $1,500
- Per Time Award (Per Semester): $750
- Possibility of renewal: Yes
For a 3.50 – 3.74 GPA:
- Full-Time Award (Per Semester): $1,000
- Per Time Award (Per Semester): $500
- Possibility of renewal: Yes
For a 3.25 – 3.49 GPA:
- Full-Time Award (Per Semester): $500
- Per Time Award (Per Semester):$250
- Possibility of renewal: Yes
For a 3.00 – 3.24 GPA:
- Full-Time Award (Per Semester): $500
- Per Time Award (Per Semester):$250
- Possibility of renewal: no
Requirement for Comet Transfer Scholarship:
At the time of admission, applicants must be a resident of Texas.
At least 30 transferable semester credits, but not more than 90, must have been acquired by candidates. Six at least of those hours, except the summer immediately following high school graduation, must have been completed after high school graduation.
Students are automatically eligible for the Comet Transfer Scholarship once they are accepted.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship
For Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship applicants must have at least a 3.50 Grade Point Average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0.

- Part-Time Award (per semester):$25

Requirement for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship:
- At the time of admission, applicants must be a resident of Texas.
- At least 30 transferable semester credits, but not more than 90, must have been acquired by candidates. Six at least of those hours, except the summer immediately following high school graduation, must have been completed after high school graduation.
Here are some other information to put in mind concerning Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship and Comet Transfer Scholarship;
Proof of PTK membership must be provided to the Office of Financial Aid shortly after submitting an application for admission in order to be eligible for the PTK scholarship. Any of the following can serve as proof of membership:
- An exact replica of a valid PTK membership card.
- A valid PTK certification.
- A certified document confirming your membership from a PTK advisor.
- The availability of funds affects the availability of scholarships.
- Only students who have a cumulative transferrable GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of acceptance are eligible for these scholarships.
- These bursaries are given to new transfer students for the autumn or spring semesters.
- These grants, scholarships, and loans may be used in addition to others.
