How To Apply For A Beauty License In Jamaica
The beauty license in Jamaica is more like a cosmetology license. Once you have obtained your certificate from any of the cosmetology schools in Jamaica, you then visit any health centre near you.
Register for a health permit and take the registration receipt to (K SAC) with your certificate and 3 passport size picture, sign be a JP, and then pay the required fees.
You will have to wait on the date on the health permit on which you will visit the registered health Centre, at the date and time stated on the receipt from (K SAC ) and the remaining picture upon sitting the health permit test.
Afterwards, you will receive a call once your license is ready to be picked and also they will give you the date and time that you will return.
Note that these processes must be taken to seek employment or open a business.
That means, if you at any time want to open a business, you will need to take your license to the companies office of Jamaica to register your business.
Requirements for Barbers, Hairdressers, Cosmetologists and Beauty therapist license
1. Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)
2. Valid Identification (National ID/ Passport/ Driver’s Licence)
3. Three (3) passport size photographs (per application) signed and stamped by J.P.
4. Cosmetology/Hairdressing/Barbering
5. Valid Health Permit (Cost $500.00 per annum @ the Health Department – for the personal licence only)
NB. If you are an employee, then a Letter from your employer, stamped and signed by a Justice of the Peace for applicants who do not own the salon he or she operates in.
