The commissioner of education appoints the eleven members of the TASA Autism Council.
Members are chosen from among those with knowledge and experience in addressing the needs of people with autism spectrum disorders and who represent a range of educational and community interests.
The membership includes parents or guardians, educators, administrators, and other professionals with knowledge of the needs of people with autism spectrum disorders.
It also includes university faculty from a variety of disciplines with an interest in programs that serve people with autism spectrum disorders, as well as representatives from community advocacy or support groups, regional education service centers, public school districts, state-supported schools, and private schools.
