Confucius Institute Scholarship
The Confucius Institute Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for international students. This scholarship is offered to study Chinese language and culture in more than 150 Chinese Universities. CIS scholarship includes tuition and lodging fees, medical insurance and a monthly allowance for personal expenses.
This is one of the scholarships for international students over 40 should consider.
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35, but it is extended to age 45 for people who demonstrate that they are working as Chinese teachers at the time of applying.
The application must be made online in the official page of the Confucius Institute scholarships (you need to have all the documents scanned, including your passport and a passport size photo).
Chinese Government Scholarship
In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people from the rest of the world and also to enhance cooperation and exchanges in the field of education, science and technology, culture, economics, and trade between China and other countries of the world, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship schemes to sponsor international students and scholars to undertake studies and research in Chinese institutions of higher education.
International students under Chinese Government Scholarship Programmes will be placed in 94 Chinese institutions of higher education designated by the MOE.
There are over 300 subjects in sciences, technology, agronomy, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, liberal arts and philosophy available for international students in these institutions.

Beijing Government Scholarship
Beijing Government Scholarship 2022-2023 is a fully funded scholarship for international students.
The initial fund of the scholarship is 35 million yuan (US$5 million) from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
The scholarship is classified into three categories with the highest at 40,000 yuan (US$5,700) for each recipient.
- Applicants for advanced studies must have an undergraduate degree or be in the second year of a university course and be under the age of 50.
- Applicants for long term language study must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 60.
- Visiting scholar candidates in Beijing must have a Masters or higher degree or hold academic titles of associate professor or higher, and be under the age of 50.
Chongqing Municipal Government Scholarship
Chongqing Municipal Government Scholarship is a scholarship that is aimed at encouraging more outstanding international students to pursue a degree program in Chongqing.
Chongqing Municipal Government launches the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as Mayor Scholarship).
This scholarship covers:
- Bachelor’s degree student: 25,000 RMB/year/person;
- Master’s degree student: 30,000 RMB/year/person;
- Ph.D. degree student: 35,000 RMB/year/person;

Sichuan Provincial Government Scholarship
Sichuan Provincial Government Scholarship is applicable to the higher education institutions of Sichuan Province which are entitled to enroll foreign students.
These institutions include full-time regular higher education institutions, higher vocational colleges ad junior colleges which have been approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and offer formal programs.

Yunnan Government Scholarship
In order to promote the development of higher education of International students in Chinese provinces and cities, to further improve the talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, and cultural exchange, many provinces and cities have established a variety of scholarship programs to attract more outstanding international students to come to study in China.
- The visiting college student’s whoa take one or two years should be of 45 years and below. They should select their two earlier majors and should have studied for 2 years in the university. If not, they should maintain a bachelor’s diploma.
- For the visiting students who have suggestion form at least two affiliate professors are supposed to pursue some additional studying with the help- of steering professors from the 9nstitution. The program takes 1-2 years. The candidates should be of 50 years and below and maintains a grasp’s diploma(this makes it one of the scholarships for international students over 40)

Xinjiang Government Scholarship
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government Scholarships for Neighboring Countries (hereinafter referred to as Government Scholarship) are full scholarships.
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Office of Education is responsible for enrollment and day to day management of international students from neighboring countries.
Applicants for general scholar program must have bachelor’s degree or completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45.
Applicants for Chinese language studies must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35.
Applicants for senior scholar program must have master’s degree or above or hold academic title of associate professor or above and be under the age of 50.

Anhui Provincial Government Scholarship
Anhui Provincial Government Scholarship is available to all the applicants of bachelor,master and doctor programs who applies for universities of Anhui Province, as well as those degree students who are already studying in universities of Anhui Province.

Hubei Government Scholarship 2022-2023 is a fully funded scholarship for international students.

The scholarship is classified into three categories with the highest at 40,000 yuan (US$5,700) for each recipient.
All General Scholar Scholarship applicants should be within the average age of 40 years old and Chinese language scholars should have obtained Higher School Degree or above, professional scholars should have obtained bachelor’s degree or above or should be university students in grade 2 or above.
Advanced Scholar Scholarship applicants should have obtained master’s degree or above and associate professor title or above, and should be the average age of 50 years old(this makes it one of the scholarships for international students over 40).

Xiamen University Scholarship—New Students Scholarship
Xiamen University China, is offering Scholarships for Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral International students in accordance with the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme.
Scholarship awardees will have their tuition covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programs, 2 or 3 years for master’s programs, 4 or 5 years for undergraduate programmes).

Adult Student Grant
Adult Student Grant is awarded by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. This grant was created in order to help older students who are starting or finishing a college degree or certificate.
Each recipient gets $2,000 to use towards tuition and fees; the award can be renewed each year by the winners.
This award is given on a first-come, first-served basis, therefore it a very good idea that you apply on time.
