When most people think about audiologists or those taking audiology programs in Ontario, they probably think of someone who tests hearing and fits hearing aids.
While it is true that they help with those issues, the services and expertise they provide are a whole lot broader.
Audiologists are highly educated professionals who must have a minimum of a master’s degree in their field in order to practice in Canada, which is the reason why they are qualified to assess, diagnose and treat a broad range of hearing and balance disorders.

The Audiology programs in Ontario
Already you know that Audiology is a dynamic and changing profession and as such Audiologists are ethically bound to provide services that are consistent with their competence, education, and experience.
Since a master’s degree in audiology (or equivalent) is required for current entry to practice in all jurisdictions in Canada, below are some of the universities for your Audiology programs.
University of Waterloo
Western’s Master of Clinical Science (MClSc) program in audiology is a world leader in the field and has pioneered the development of technology for pediatric audiology.
Students taking this program receive personal attention through their small group laboratory experiences and teaching clinics, low student-faculty ratios, and access to the school’s state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders is home to Canada’s largest on-site speech and hearing clinic, the H.A. Leeper Speech and Hearing Clinic.
Students are enrolled in the program for 6 terms and that includes two summer practical placements.
Participating students are required to successfully complete the course requirements in order to complete the program.
In addition, students are required to complete a minimum of 360 hours of approved supervised clinical practicum.
University of Ottawa
The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Health Sciences’ Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Program is a graduate-level program leading to the Master of Health Sciences (MSc) degree in Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology.
This program offers specialized training in the field of communication disorders and aims to train competent health professionals to meet the needs of the Francophone population of Ontario and, more broadly, the needs of Francophone communities in the bilingual and multicultural Canadian context.
Their Audiology and Speech-Language Program offers two streams of graduate study: audiology and speech-language pathology.
The curriculum follows the standards established by the Council for Accreditation of Canadian University Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CACUP-ASLP.).
The program is structured over two years (24 consecutive months) and includes six mandatory terms of full-time study, including clinical placements.
Brock University
In their Audiology program, you’ll gain a strong foundation in linguistics, hands-on fieldwork, clinical observation, teaching practice, and practical workshops to supplement your academic courses.
It is one of the Audiology programs in Ontario where you’ll also learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development, and selected disorders of human communication.
