Admission Requirements- University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine

  • Three-year Bachelor’s degree
  • CASPer Test [computer based assessment for sampling personal characteristics]
  • Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • A detailed autobiographical sketch
  • And an interview.

Minimum GPA required

Minimum GPA: 3.5 [on a scale of four]

MCAT requirement

Candidates are recommended to write the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

However, the university will accept applications without the MCAT for the 2021 cycle of admission. If you planning to apply in subsequent years, then you have to find out if it will be needed.

Prerequisite courses

A) One full-year course in General Biology/Zoology including laboratory session;

B) One full-year course in Humanities or Social Sciences [or two semester-long courses from two separate disciplines];

C) The equivalent of two full-year courses from the following Chemistry courses:

i) General Biochemistry without laboratory session,

ii) General Chemistry with laboratory session,

iii) Organic Chemistry with laboratory session.

Medical students must have completed a Basic Rescuer Level C [Adult, Child, and Infant] CPR course within a year prior to registration in the medical program.
